COLUMBUS, Ind. – On Wednesday afternoon, the board of the Fair Oaks Community Development Corporation acted on recommendations from the facilities and finance committees. Among the board’s actions were approving Scott Andrews as the corporation’s legal counsel; approving the purchase transaction; keeping the current managing company of the mall, Veritas Realty, for at least six months; and selecting Kemper CPA Group for accounting services and Cincinnati Insurance Companies for insurance matters.
The purchase agreement will be signed on Friday and the corporation will take immediate possession. Current tenants will pay their rents and take any concerns to Veritas while it remains manager of the property.
A search for people to fill out a design and planning committee will commence in January. City Executive Director of Administration Mary Ferdon noted that the public will want to see forward movement on planning for the overall use of the real estate once the corporation takes ownership.
Mayor Jim Lienhoop anticipates that future board meetings will take place at the mall. Those dates will be posted on the city calendar.
