FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Indiana Criminal Justice System (ICJI) is bringing its “Rule the Road” program to Franklin Community High School on Wednesday, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. It is designed to prepare teenage drivers for dangerous situations they may encounter while operating a motor vehicle.
ICJI communications director Will Wingfield says the free event is for students 15 to 18, with a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit. Registration ended last week and Wingfield says the team is ready.
Students will have the opportunity to drive through a closed circuit course while being supervised by police officers. The program will provide students with hands-on, real-life scenarios to better prepare them to be defensive drivers.
Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran is one of the officials who will be on hand for “Rule the Road.”
