COLUMBUS, Ind. – At its Monday afternoon meeting, the Columbus Redevelopment Commission approved the expenditure of $416,677.50, from the municipal airport allocation area, for an extension of Poshard Drive on airport property. There will be a ten-foot side path on the north side of the proposed extension.
The airport will lease land adjacent to the extension to Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for development of two soccer fields. Airport director Brian Payne said that the lease will bring the airport “significantly more revenue than we [currently] get from farm revenues.”
He also stated that the airport’s eventual goal is to extend Poshard Drive to Cunningham Drive as a measure to route traffic coming into the city from the north onto Poshard Drive.
