COLUMBUS, Ind. – Four people were arrested early Sunday morning after a disturbance was reported at a west side restaurant. Shortly after 4 a.m., the Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to McDonalds, on Jonathan Moore Pike, after an employee was reportedly battered by an intoxicated customer.
CPD located the suspect’s truck a short time later and stopped it on State Road 11, near Garden City. While speaking with the vehicle’s occupants, law enforcement says it was determined that the driver of the truck, Jose Salas Duran, 29, of Columbus, did not have a valid driver’s license. During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located two large pieces of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia inside the truck.
The driver and the three other occupants, Belito A. Correa, 23, of Seymour, Rosita Montoya, 49, of Seymour, and Glenda I. Lopez, 21, of Columbus, were taken into custody and jailed.
Salas Duran was charged with driving without obtaining a driver’s license and possession of methamphetamine. Correa was booked for battery with bodily injury and possession of methamphetamine. Montoya was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. And, Lopez was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
