COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbus Police Department (CPD) were dispatched on Sunday to a possible intoxicated driver eastbound on 25th Street. When CPD attempted to pull the driver over, the suspect failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Two Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and joined the chase.
When the driver of the car, identified as Steven Jordan, 68, of Hartsville, got to the intersection of State Road 9 and East State Road 46, he collided with a guardrail. Prior to being taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, the suspect was taken to Columbus Regional Health and treated for minor injuries.
“This man put himself, my deputies, and the public in danger by not stopping as the law requires,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers. “I am glad that no one was seriously injured.”
Charges are pending, and Jordan has since been released.
