INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Hoosiers have an opportunity to participate in the 17th nationwide “Prescription Drug Take Back Day,” this Saturday, April 27, by visiting Indiana State Police (ISP) posts and other selected sponsored locations. In partnership with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the “Prescription Drug Take Back” initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of prescription drugs.
Collection sites are available for residents to conveniently and safely drop off any unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications, both liquids and pills. Syringes are not accepted. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Medication will be properly disposed of without threat to the environment.
Besides ISP posts, south-central Indiana has two nearby DEA drop-off locations. In Johnson County, go to Sam’s Club at 1101 Windhorst Way, in Greenwood, and in Jennings County, visit the North Vernon Fire Department, 2000 North Madison Ave., in North Vernon.
