The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a female pedestrian who was struck and killed by a semi early this morning. The incident occurred Monday in the construction zone on Interstate 65, just north of the Bartholomew-Jackson county line, near mile-marker 58, at around 3:45 a.m. Bartholomew Coroner Clayton Nolting was called to the scene, where he pronounced that the woman died from blunt force trauma.
Nolting stated the car the female is believed to have occupied was apparently southbound before it became stuck in a muddy area in the median of I-65. The crash is being investigated by Indiana State Police.
The woman’s identity will be released once next of kin has been notified, Nolting said.
