FRANKLIN, Ind. – On March 27, 2018, the Indiana State Police (ISP) stopped Bobby Sutton, 52, of Columbus, on southbound Interstate 65 in Johnson County, for a minor traffic violation.
Sutton was already suspected of being involved in drug trafficking, so a K-9 officer was brought to the scene. The police dog gave a positive alert on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Troopers allegedly found 800 grams (1.76 pounds) of methamphetamine and claim Sutton stated that he was transporting the drugs to Columbus.
ISP says it was able to obtain information later that night that led to a search warrant being issued for a location in Indianapolis, which resulted in the seizure of an additional 1.5 pounds of meth.
The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office officially filed charges of possession of methamphetamine against Sutton last week and he was arrested on May 9. He is currently in custody at the Bartholomew County Jail.
