INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Late last month, Hoosiers participated in the 17th annual nationwide “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” by visiting various Indiana State Police Posts and other designated sites throughout the state, and the results are in. During the one-day event, the DEA reports that Hoosiers safely unloaded of 22,757 pounds of unused medications.
The Drug Take Back Day was sponsored by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency and the Indiana Board of Pharmacy. The yearly event seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of prescription drugs.
There were 95 sites across Indiana that partnered with the DEA to collect unused medication.
