COLUMBUS, Ind. – UPDATE: At around 6:30 a.m. Friday, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 550W and 550S in reference to a BCSC bus fire.
When they arrived, deputies observed the school bus fully engulfed in flames. There were no injuries as both the students and driver were able to exit the vehicle safely. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and deputies transported the students to school. “I am very happy that BCSO deputies, and other public safety personnel, arrived quickly and that there were no injuries,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers.
At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL: Early on its route this morning, a Bartholomew County School Corporation (BCSC) bus caught fire near Ogilville, at County Roads 550W and 550S.
The bus driver helped the students evacuate, and there were no injuries.
