FRANKLIN, Ind. – A Johnson County jury found Jeramey Butler, 38, of Cloverdale, guilty on Wednesday of child seduction and dissemination of matter harmful to minors, both level 6 felonies. Charges stemmed from a complaint filed with the Greenwood Police Department in January 2017, brought by the mother of a 17-year-old family member of Butler’s.
During the two-day trial, prosecutors presented the testimony of the teenager and Brian Swisher, a Greenwood Police Detective. Swisher, who is trained in obtaining forensic evidence from electronic devices, provided evidence against Butler.
Butler was taken into custody after being found guilty and will remain in jail until the sentencing hearing, which is currently set for June 10. A level 6 felony has a sentencing range of six months to two-and-a-half years, with a presumptive sentence of one year, plus a fine of up to $10,000.
