COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Commissioners met Monday and approved a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) request for a $28,122 appropriation to fund the purchase of bulletproof vests for department employees. That figure represents one-half of the total cost of $56,244, with the other half being provided by a matching federal grant.
In other business, the commissioners approved a $191,421 contract with Globe Asphalt Paving for the Carr Hill Road sidewalk extension project, as well as a $628,530.90 pact with Force Construction Company for work on the bridge just south of County Road 900N, on County Road 300E.
Commissioners also authorized the Administrative Resources Association to conduct an income survey of the residents of Armuth Acres and Northcliff subdivisions to see if those neighborhoods qualify for Office of Rural and Community Affairs grants that could be used to address the chronic flooding problem in that area.
