GREENWOOD, Ind. – Greenwood is one step closer to completing a transformation for one of the city’s major north-south corridors. On Wednesday, the Greenwood Redevelopment Commission (RDC) provided an initial review of a proposed design contract for the latest and longest phase of reconfiguration for Madison Avenue. The project is a continuation of city efforts to revitalize downtown Greenwood.
The second phase of the Madison Avenue project is being designed with plans for a third. Phase 2 includes improvements at the intersection of Madison Ave and Main Street, with construction planned for 2020.
The third phase of the project moves north beyond Noble Street and extends to Fry Road. Pedestrian trails and marked crosswalks are just a few of the changes that would come with the third phase construction. If the RDC approves Phase 3 in July, design will begin right away with tentative construction scheduled for 2021.
