COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District (SWMD) board met Thursday and approved the draft of the 2020 budget that SWMD director Heather Siesel presented. Salaries, wages, services, and supplies are all slightly increased, but the fact that no major 2020 projects are anticipated will keep capital outlays close to the current level.
The entire budget comes in at $3.4 million, down from this year’s $3.9 million. It will be submitted to the county by July 1.
In other business, the board approved gate relief fee to the city of Columbus for disposal of debris resulting from demolition of properties at 2875 Kentucky Ave., and 2143 23rd St. The district and the city will share in recouping of that cost when the properties are sold.
