COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two suspects are in custody after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) says it broke into a home on Sunday evening. CPD officers were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Smith Street in regards to two persons attempting to gain entry into a home.
The residents advised the police that a man and woman were pulling on their door and causing a disturbance outside their home. While officers were speaking with the residents, the two suspects were spotted inside the house immediately next door.
Clifton Burton, 29, of Columbus, and Ophelia Garcia, 24, of Columbus, were confirmed as the two suspects. The duo was arrested without incident and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail. Burton was charged with burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and residential entry. Garcia was booked for residential entry.
