COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) was called to E Sushi Japanese Restaurant, at 25th Street and Taylor Road, on Tuesday morning after reports of a possible structure fire.
As firefighters arrived, the building was closed and all doors were locked. CFD reported light smoke visible from the building’s roof. After forcing open a door, crews were met with a large amount of smoke inside the establishment. After looking for occupants, they determined the building was empty.
Following a thorough search of the eatery, firefighters found a large pot of food burning on a gas stove-top, so they quickly turned off the gas supply. Fire crews had to use a large ventilation fan to remove the smoke from the restaurant.
CFD officials say the cause of the fire was accidental. Smoke damages were minimal, there was no fire damage, and no injuries were reported.
