COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Redevelopment Commission approved a $750,000 workforce development grant to the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) on Monday afternoon. It is the fourth year the commission has bestowed the grant, in this amount, to BCSC.
Superintendent Dr. Jim Roberts gave a presentation to the commission, providing goals and metrics for the three areas the grant will fund. They include the iGrad program, which focuses on increasing the corporation’s graduation rate, STEM activity, particularly establishing labs in the corporation’s elementary schools and increasing enrollment in advanced science courses, and transitioning special-needs students into post-school life and work.
Other sources of funding for the corporation’s workforce development include its own general fund, Ivy Tech, and TIF revenue.
