COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers arrested Chaz Berger after he allegedly stole about $4,000 worth of tools and other items from a detached garage.
After responding to a home in the 1000 block of Pearl Street in regards to the theft, police say the homeowner told them his garage was broken into. While searching the garage, officers say they found a wallet belonging to Berger inside.
Later, CPD found the suspect passed out inside a truck in the parking lot at Cambridge Square Apartments. Law enforcement claims stolen tools from the burglary were observed inside the truck, and additional stolen items were recovered inside a nearby apartment.
Berger was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary.
