NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A Jennings County Jail inmate had to be transported to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, and later to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment from supposed self-inflicted injuries.
The Jennings County Sheriff reports that the incident took place Friday evening when the male inmate, age 30, jumped from the second level of the facility in an apparent attempt to harm himself. During the preliminary investigation, video evidence shows the man jumping from the second story level and landing on the ground level. Jail staff and other inmates immediately responded.
Authorities say additional evidence shows that the male was believed to be suffering from a psychological issue.
The name of the inmate has not yet been released.
