COLUMBUS, Ind. – Representatives of the Lochmueller Group, an Indianapolis-based urban planning firm, presented its findings of the firm’s study of the state of the city’s transit system on Tuesday evening. The relative productivity of the five bus routes was presented, as were observations about the demographics of riders on each route.
An operating practices review showed that the ColumBUS transit system enjoys high employee morale. The report also determined that the city could raise its 25-cent fare without significant resistance from its customer base.
During the public input portion of the presentation, citizens offered their feedback. Extended hours of service, expansion of routes to include the city’s southern edge, and better marketing so that new arrivals to the city are readily aware of the city’s transit service were all suggested as ways to improve ColumBUS.
