NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Sometimes, real life is stranger than fiction. On Monday, a Jennings County Deputies took a report of stolen dentures from a female in the Country Squire Lakes area.
The victim reported that Joann Childers had stolen her teeth and was wearing them around. That same morning, deputies spoke with a probation officer who had met with Childers, and the officer said that Childers was wearing teeth at her probation meeting that were not hers.
On Wednesday, deputies were able to located Childers and speak with her about the theft. During the conversation, enforcement reportedly observed the dentures in plain view in Childers’ home. Upon observation, the dentures even had the victim’s name written on them.
Childers is facing charges of theft and the dentures have been recovered.
