FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin Community Schools (FCS) has announced Jim Tonte as their choice for next head wrestling coach and physical education teacher at Franklin Community High School. The recommendation will be presented to the FCS School Board of Trustees for approval at the August meeting.
Tonte served four years as the head wrestling coach and business teacher at the Walker Career Center in the Warren Township School District. Prior to that, he spent 16 years teaching business and economics and coaching wrestling at Perry Township.
“I am extremely excited to lead a wrestling program with such a rich tradition,” Coach Tonte said. He continued, “The atmosphere and energy around the community are great and this immediately felt like home.”
Tonte has won four state titles in wrestling and is the first coach in Indiana history to lead two different schools to a state title in wrestling.
