
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Rural and volunteer fire departments from 46 counties were recently awarded nearly $300,000 in Volunteer Fire Assistance grants, including the departments in Bartholomew, and Jennings counties.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Forestry staff reviewed grant applications and selected recipients on the basis of population density, acres of public wildlands protected, and wildland fire reporting to DNR Fire Control Headquarters.
The Southwest Bartholomew Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) was granted $3,910 for safety, the Campbell Township VFD was gifted $4,935 for radios, and the Spencer Township VFD also received $5,000 for radios.
