BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer says that 9-1-1 operators received a call about a stabbing at a residence in the 8400 block of County Road 850E, on Thursday, at about 10:45 p.m.
When officers arrived, the victim had already left with his girlfriend who took him to Scott County Hospital. The victim was later airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. After the victim was released, he gave a statement to police about the incident.
During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect in the knifing was the brother of the victim’s girlfriend. He was identified as Nicholas A. Couch, 19, of Austin. The suspect, the girlfriend, and the victim evidently all live on the same property. During a supposed argument between Couch and the victim, the suspect allegedly pulled out a hunting style knife and stabbed the victim twice in the back.
Couch was arrested, taken to the Jackson County Jail, and is being held on charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, and disorderly conduct.
