GREENWOOD, Ind. – Nearly 100 people came together last Saturday to dedicate Center Grove Community School Corporation’s (CGCSC) newest school, Walnut Grove Elementary. Those who were in attendance heard from multiple members of the district including CGCSC President Carol Tumey.
Tumey told the crowd, “Those of us on the board today and many boards before us have worked to prioritize and plan for the future of our school corporation. We are extremely proud that the bonds sold to build this school did not impact our tax rate.”
Walnut Grove features many innovative learning spaces, along with a new and engaging learning environment for its students. Safety features include a secure vestibule at the main entrance, reinforced severe weather refuge areas, and electric locks on classroom doors. Walnut Grove also has the district’s first solar array, geothermal heating and cooling, and other features that will help the building reduce energy and use less paper.
