COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) on Saturday, at around 8 p.m., after officers responded to the Marathon gas station at 11th and Washington Streets. There was reportedly an intoxicated person inside the store who was later identified as Joseph B. Caudill, 27, of Columbus.
Authorities at CPD say Caudill began causing a disturbance inside the store and refused to leave the business when he was asked to so by the employees. When officers attempted to restrain Caudill, he allegedly resisted and a struggle ensued.
The suspect was placed in handcuffs and leg restraints and transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical clearance.
Caudill was later remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of public intoxication, trespassing, and resisting law enforcement.
