HOPE, Ind. – As Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies searched for a man allegedly involved in a domestic incident on Friday morning, Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation schools in Hope were placed on a precautionary lockdown. BCSO reports that no students or faculty were ever in danger.
Craig Whittington, 46, was eventually found after police canines were able to track his location to a barn owned by his father.
Deputies say the suspect was taken to be checked out at Columbus Regional Health before he was transported to Bartholomew County Jail. Whittington is now facing preliminary charges of strangulation and domestic battery in the presence of children.
The investigation is continuing.
