SEYMOUR, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP) responded to a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in Jackson County, where a semi ran off the road and overturned on northbound Interstate 65. The truck driver was arrested for multiple violations, including operating while intoxicated. The accident left the northbound lanes of I-65 closed for about eight hours.
The initial investigation indicates the driver, James Murphy, was traveling on I-65 near mile marker 51, just north of Seymour, when his semi left the roadway. The vehicle reportedly hit a guardrail before overturning.
A preliminary breath test allegedly revealed the trucker had a .26% BAC. He was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where toxicology reports are pending.
Murphy was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail on charges of OWI, an open container violation, and disregarding a traffic control device.
