COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bids were due last Wednesday for the Columbus Overpass project, and Columbus City Engineer Dave Hayward says that the current low bid is about $2 million less than what they were estimating.
Hayward reports the city received three bids for the road and overpass portion of the project and the current low bid is from Milestone at approximately $25.4 million. The cost is expected to be split between Columbus and the state 50/50. However, Hayward says that there are still other expenses to be considered which could push the total over $30 million, but the road and overpass itself are the most expensive parts of the project.
No bids have been accepted yet but the low bid is likely to be taken when the official decision is made.
