COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while intoxicated after he was spotted operating a vehicle with two flat tires on Saturday evening.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) received a report of a vehicle weaving erratically near 11th and Washington Streets at around 9:15 p.m. Law enforcement spotted the vehicle a short time later and made contact with the driver who was identified as Craig Dearing, 48, of Columbus. While speaking with him, officers say they detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and noted that his speech was slurred.
The suspect failed several CPD field sobriety tests and was taken to Columbus Regional Health for a blood draw.
Dearing was eventually arrested, transported to Bartholomew County Jail, and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-endangerment.
