COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Utility Service Board met Thursday morning and voted unanimously to send Columbus City Utilities’ 2020 master plan for finances to Columbus City Council. The council will vote on the plan in two readings, one at its last meeting in November and again at its first December meeting.
The combined total expenses for water and wastewater is $23,019,104. The ending balance is $18,842,739.
In his presentation to the board, agency director Scott Dompke noted that, unlike most business models, the utilities’ model is capital-intensive. It is guided by the principle of spending in the short term to save money in the long term. He said the agency’s focus is on prevention.
