COLUMBUS, Ind. – On a beautiful football Friday night in south-central Indiana, the two Columbus high schools closed out the regular season with blow-out victories. Other area teams were not so fortunate. All schools were fine-tuning before the Sectionals.
In a game heard on MOJO 102-9, the Columbus East Olympians clobbered Madison and finished the season with a 7-2 record. Columbus North hosted Terre Haute South and the Bulldogs were also big winners, 45-14, to end the regular season with a 5-4 mark. Franklin fell to Decatur Central, 41-21, as Seymour lost to Floyd Central by one touchdown, 21-14. Jennings County was outscored by New Albany, 42-20, while Edinburgh was defeated by Southside/Indy, 44-15.
Next week, both Columbus teams have a bye in the first round of the IHSAA post-season tournament and begin Sectional play on Friday, November 1. North (5-4) travels to Franklin Central (4-5) while East (7-2) welcomes Center Grove (4-5). MOJO 102-9 broadcasts the North game with Tom Rust and Jimmy St. John starting with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
