CROTHERSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP) troopers arrested two men on Wednesday after a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine was found in their vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 in Jackson County.
The incident began at around 10:30 a.m. when a car was pulled over on northbound I-65, near the 39-mile marker, just north of Crothersville. After questioning the suspects, the officer’s K-9, “Jinx,” conducted a sweep of the exterior of the vehicle. Jinx supposedly alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. During a search, a plastic bag containing over 500 grams (one pound) of suspected crystal methamphetamine was allegedly located.
The driver, Zachary D. Williams, 37, of Lafayette, originally provided ISP with a false name. The trooper said the passenger, Mark A. Sneed, 39, of Louisville, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana.
Both men were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown. Williams was booked for dealing methamphetamine, possession of meth, false informing, and identity theft. Sneed was charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of meth, and possession of marijuana.
