SEYMOUR, Ind. – It was a weekend of motor vehicles being submerged in water in Jackson County. It began Friday afternoon when Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, an Indiana State Police trooper, saved a life by pulling a woman out of her sinking car on State Road 11, and then ended with another water-related incident last night.
Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer says that his deputies and a reserve officer were called to an accident Sunday evening in the 4000 block of North County Road 950E, southeast of Seymour, where a vehicle was reported to be in a pond.
Evidently, the operator of the car missed the 90-degree turn in the road and went into the small body of water. The driver, who was not injured in the mishap, was able to get out of the vehicle on his own.
Sheriff dive-team members assisted in getting the vehicle out of the pond.
