COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Board of Zoning Appeals met Monday evening and approved one request for a Taylorsville property and shot down another. Developer Lee Stephenson was granted a conditional use variance to build a multi-family dwelling on the corner of Tecumseh Street and Tannehill Road but was denied a standards variance to build six units at approximately half the square footage that is normally required.
One issue that was discussed by the applicant and several residents of the neighborhood in question was the fact that Tecumseh Street was surveyed improperly when platted and is therefore unusually narrow.
One resident spoke of congestion on the street when German Township Fire Department trucks pull onto it. She and other residents were concerned that six small units would not attract families.
