COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a local woman Friday night who allegedly fled from officers after they confronted her about warrants she had for her arrest. CPD was dispatched to the area of 11th and Pearl Streets, at around 10:40 p.m., to check the welfare of someone reportedly walking in the middle of the street.
When police got there, they found Shelby Yates, 22, of Columbus walking in the roadway. Law enforcement confirmed two local warrants for the suspect’s arrest and attempted to arrest her. Officers say she tried to flee on foot, but they were able to apprehend her.
Yates was booked on preliminary charges of two Bartholomew County Warrants, and resisting law enforcement.
