COLUMBUS, Ind. – After announcing last week that the company is planning to effectively manage through a cyclical downturn expected in 2020, Cummins also is reporting that it is preparing to reduce its global workforce by about 2,000 employees next year.
According to a company spokesperson, the reductions are expected to be done before the end of the first quarter in 2020. The cuts are correlated to decreased demand, which deteriorated faster than expected.
In addition, Cummins is planning to cut back on discretionary spending, and further aligning its production with current demands, among many other methods to help cut costs in 2020.
