COLUMBUS, Ind. – With the extremely high winds on Wednesday, Duke Energy reported at one time that about 17,000 of its Indiana customers were without power.
The good news is that the strong winds have died down and that statewide, all but 123 of those 17,000 homes and businesses have had their power restored. The bad news is that, as of 7 a.m. Thursday, 120 of the customers still without power are in the North Vernon area.
Duke Energy says that the protocol for all outages at any time is that their teams first need to access the damage before they can make repairs. Customers without power should call 1-800-343-3525.
