COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) was called to the 2100 block of 13th Street for a residential fire on Friday morning. Columbus Police Department officers were the first to arrive on the scene at about 10 a.m., and they initially did not see evidence of a fire.
However, a little later, they reported seeing smoke at the rear of the residence, in an attached garage. When firefighters arrived, the smoke was visible from the street. Police made sure all occupants were clear of the home.
A fire suppression team entered the home, made their way to the garage, and quickly extinguished the blaze.
CFD investigators determined the fire was electrical in nature. Officials said damages to the property were estimated to be around $5,000. There were no injuries.
