COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is reporting a continued drop in property crime across the city in 2019. This year’s reduction, along with a decrease in property crime over the previous three years, is a trend that police say they are working hard to maintain as the new year approaches.
Over the last three years, CPD says property crime in Columbus has gone down 19%. Columbus Chief of Police Jon Rohde stated, “We set out to reverse property crime trends in our community by implementing a strategic solution, and as a result, we are seeing historic decreases.”
With holiday shopping in full swing, authorities remind you to report suspicious activity to police and never leave valuable items unattended in a vehicle or on a porch. Also, if a deal seems “too good to be true,” it probably is.
