COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Plan Commission approved a request on Wednesday to allow seven Columbus Indiana Philharmonic (CIP) signs to be a part of the renovation of its building at 315 Franklin Street. The restoration includes the refurbishing of the administrative offices and the construction of Helen Haddad Hall, a performance and event space.
The pertinent ordinance permits one sign per street frontage. The concept developed by Force Design, Inc. calls for a discreet sign reading “Helen Haddad Hall” above a front-entrance canopy. The CIP logo will appear on either side of the canopy and music-related art on a wall along the alley on the building’s north side.
The commission generally agreed that the concept furthers the Envision Columbus goal of activating a downtown core by promoting vibrancy and density.
