NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A domestic disturbance early Saturday morning led to the arrest of two North Vernon residents on several charges.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to Geneva Township at around 2:45 a.m. and made contact with a female who had sustained serious injuries from the battery. The woman’s three-month-old child was still in the residence with the father and friends. The female was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies entered the home on Gintshire Way and found the suspect, Ashdon Davis, 24, of North Vernon, and four others. They say drug-related items were in plain view.
Fentanyl was allegedly located in the bedroom where the three-month-old child was. Illegal drugs and paraphernalia were supposedly found inside of the child’s diaper bag and throughout the home. The Department of Child Services was notified and came to assist with the baby.
Davis and one other occupant, Jordan McCarty, 21, of North Vernon, were taken into custody.
Davis was charged with domestic battery in the presence of a minor, neglect of a dependent child, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. McCarty was booked for dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.
