COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Board of Zoning Appeals met Tuesday and voted to allow the Hog Molly Brewing Co. to expand its business to include regular hours at a taproom where customers can taste the microbrewery’s products. It has been operating for several months, at 830 Depot St., and is surrounded by production or distribution-oriented businesses.
A representative from Louisville and Indiana Railroad, which operates a railyard nearby, expressed concern about the public consuming alcohol in such close proximity to his company’s facility, given that trespassing is such a concern for the railroad industry.
The board ultimately approved the microbrewery’s request under the condition that a sign is posted clearly directing traffic exiting the parking lot to U.S. 31.
