COLUMBUS, Ind. – At the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting Tuesday evening, developers of the property located at the northeast corner of 25th and Chestnut Streets, site of a former gas station that has been sitting idle for years, were granted variances for three matters.
They received the okay for a front setback of 36 feet (19 feet less than normal), positioning of a driveway such that it is closer to the next driveway than is permitted, and a waiver of buffer-type requirement for the back of the property (the applicants must either plant evergreens close enough to form an opaque barrier or erect opaque fencing).
The developers say their intention is to build a 3,600-square foot building on the property and rent space to a mix of retail and office tenants.
