COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is reducing as much person-to-person contact as possible in order to mitigate the risks associated with the transmission of novel coronavirus.
BCSO says it is still responding to all emergency calls, but residents should contact 812-379-1689 for any nonemergency. Beginning Tuesday, two deputies will be assigned to the front desk, during the first and second shifts, to take phone reports at 812-379-1650. Incident reports can be emailed, faxed, or mailed.
In addition to restrictions already in place, the sheriff’s office will not be fingerprinting, courts have suspended all weekend commitments, and public restrooms located in the lobby at the Bartholomew County Jail are closed until further notice. During the pandemic, BCSO employees are being equipped with proper safety gear.
