COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Regional Health (CRH) officials announced Monday afternoon that due to the mandates put out by the Indiana Governor’s Office and backed by the recommendations of the CDC and other clinical agencies, they have decided to immediately cancel all elective, non-urgent surgeries and procedures.
The decision was made to meet the health needs of potential COVID-19 patients, protect against exposure and further potential spread, and to ensure that medical resources are readily available. A team of physicians, including surgical management at Columbus Regional Health, has developed a process for determining on a case-by-case basis which procedures meet criteria. Each patient need is unique and will be coordinated on an individual basis.
The efforts are being made to help contribute to the safety of CRH employees and the public.
