NORTH VERNON, Ind. – As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve, North Vernon Mayor Mike Ochs has announced how the city is responding to the virus.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Ochs urged the public to follow suggestions from organizations such as the CDC. “I ask all of you to follow the well–publicized guidelines suggested by the Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the office of the President, and that of Governor Holcomb.”
The mayor also says that each department head will try to economize the use of staff in order to avoid contamination among employees. City buildings will close except for emergency purposes. All city facilities which have been available for rental to the public are now closed. Also, all city-sponsored events and sports are canceled.
On Wednesday morning, the Indiana State Department of Health reported the first positive COVID-19 case in Jennings County.
