COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested Thursday night after he reportedly entered a home and fought with the owner. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was called to the 3000 block of 32nd Street at about 9 p.m.
Officers say the homeowner told them that she and her family were inside their house when the man, later identified as Tyler Wells, 30, of Columbus, allegedly barged through their door and briefly pinned her husband to the floor. The husband was able to get away from the suspect and retrieve a handgun from his bedroom and ordered Wells to leave the residence, according to police.
CPD reportedly observed Wells exiting the home as they arrived and he was placed under arrest. He supposedly tried to pull away from officers when they were preparing to put him in a patrol vehicle.
After securing him in the police car, Wells was taken to Bartholomew County Jail and is facing preliminary charges of residential entry, resisting law enforcement, and public intoxication.
