COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) responded to a residential fire at 2600 Wedgewood Dr., just before noon on Sunday. Firefighters responded after the homeowner called 911 reporting a fire in the attic.
Emergency crews determined flames were consuming a large stack of firewood next to the home and were reaching the attic. They quickly extinguished the blaze.
CFD said the interior sustained smoke and water damage, including an exterior sunroom wall inside the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the origin is believed to be the exterior wall area.
