COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) responded to a residential fire at 647 Hutchins Ave., at around 5:20 a.m., on Sunday. Crews arrived to find fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home.
Jennifer Carlisle, the adult occupant in the house, told firefighters that she heard the smoke alarm, so she quickly removed herself and her two children from the residence and called 911.
CFD began attacking the blaze by entering the front of the home to extinguish the flames. Fire damage was reported in the bedroom, in the bathroom, and on exterior siding. Smoke damage was also reported throughout the home.
Authorities said there were no injuries and the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
